Milford Sound Cruise and Kayak is your gateway to discovering the awe-inspiring landscapes of Fiordland National Park from every angle. This incredible self-drive adventure offers a unique combination of a scenic cruise, guided kayaking, and access to New Zealand’s only floating underwater observatory — an experience few visitors get to enjoy.
Start your day on a comfortable cruise through Milford Sound, often called the eighth wonder of the world. Marvel at towering cliffs, plunging waterfalls, and wildlife including seals and dolphins. Your knowledgeable crew will share fascinating insights into the history and natural wonders of the area as you sail through this breathtaking environment.
Following the cruise, gear up for a kayaking adventure like no other. Glide across the tranquil waters of Harrison Cove within the Piopiotahi (Milford Sound) Marine Reserve. This guided 90-minute paddle caters to all fitness levels and experience. A handy kayak lift makes entry effortless, so you stay dry and comfortable. Double kayaks are available for families with children aged 5–14.
Take in stunning views of sheer granite cliffs, rainforest-covered peaks, and waterfalls as you paddle. Adventurous guests can even taste pure glacial water directly from the Harrison River. Your guide will highlight local wildlife and the extraordinary geology unique to this fiord.
Then, descend 10 metres beneath the surface at the Milford Sound Underwater Observatory. Here you’ll witness a thriving marine ecosystem, rare black coral, and colourful reef fish without getting wet — a rare chance to see what lies beneath one of New Zealand’s most pristine marine environments.
A freshly prepared picnic lunch is included to enjoy during your adventure, surrounded by unforgettable scenery.
