Glenorchy Air – Mt Cook – Fly / Heli Hike/ Fly

From $789.00 NZD Per Adult

The experience

Experience the ultimate adventure with panoramic views of Lake Pukaki and glaciers, a unique heli-hike on the Tasman Glacier, and a return flight over the scenic Lindis Pass.

Walk across New Zealand’s largest glacier.

Embark on an unforgettable adventure as you fly up the spine of the South Island, taking in panoramic views of Lake Wanaka and Lake Hawea on one side, and Lake Pukaki, arguably New Zealand’s most beautiful lake, on the other.

Enjoy unparalleled aerial perspectives of the Franz and Fox Glaciers on the West Coast, as well as the Tasman Glacier within Aoraki Mt. Cook National Park. Marvel at the awe-inspiring views of the summit ridge of Mt. Cook and the Tasman Glacier before landing at Aoraki/Mt. Cook Airport, nestled on the picturesque outskirts of Mt. Cook Village.

Team up with a professional guide for a heli-hiking adventure, where you’ll fly by helicopter to a remote drop-off point on the glacier. Explore the ice formations on New Zealand’s largest glacier, following your guide as they cut steps into the glacier using traditional skills passed down from NZ’s mountain pioneers.

As it’s a big day, we recommend bringing plenty of easy-to-eat snacks. You’ll also have time to grab a bite in the village after your hike.

Conclude your adventure with a scenic return flight to Queenstown, following a different path over the tussock-drenched Lindis Pass.

Physical
2-hour heli-hike on the Tasman Glacier, involving walking on and off the helicopter, navigating uneven terrain, and exploring Mt. Cook’s stunning landscapes.
Accessibility
All air operators are required by law to take into consideration where they seat passengers with disabilities, and whether passengers seated near emergency exits are able to assist with emergency evacuation if required. Where a passenger is able to physically assist in their own evacuation in the case of an emergency, with prior notification, we can make arrangements for them and their wheelchair to be carried on board our aircraft. We have found that where a passenger can stand with assistance, we can safely help them to negotiate the aircraft steps and seat them clear of the exits.
Carriage of passengers with a limited mobility in sightseeing aircraft presents unique challenges for both passengers and staff, and therefore please accept our sincerest apologies but it would be unlikely we are able to have you fly with us. Please feel free to contact us to discuss your circumstances and we can advise on an individual basis.
Unfortunately, not all the operators who we organise the Milford Sound Cruises with are not wheelchair friendly.
Pregnancy & Babies
Not suitable for pregnant women.
Children
The minimum age for children on this trip is 10 years old.
