Queenstown Snowmobiles proudly operates New Zealand’s only guided snowmobiling tours on the exclusive Garvie Plateau, a remote winter playground accessible only via helicopter. This unique adventure kicks off with a scenic 15-minute helicopter flight courtesy of Glacier Southern Lakes Helicopters. As you soar over the Remarkables mountain range, the Nevis River Valley, and snow-draped alpine ridgelines, you’ll catch views that most visitors can only dream of.

Upon touchdown on the untouched plateau, you’ll meet your expert guide and receive a full safety briefing and snowmobile operation tutorial. No previous experience is required, and guides ensure all riders feel comfortable and confident before hitting the trails. The tour is limited to just six guests, keeping the experience personal, safe, and completely unforgettable.

Your snowmobiling adventure will take you through a winter wonderland of frozen landscapes, powdery trails, and panoramic 360-degree views of Queenstown’s dramatic alpine scenery. There’s time to stop for photos and soak up the serene isolation of the high country, where it feels like you’ve left the rest of the world behind.

Convenient Central Queenstown pick up or Self Drive.
Additional Inclusions
All passengers will be provided with gear upon arrival at our snowmobile base, including overalls, boots, gloves, goggles, and helmets. However, if they prefer to wear their own ski gear, they are more than welcome to do so.

The restrictions

Physical
The snowmobiles are automatic, featuring just a thumb throttle and brake. They are very easy to use, similar to a jet ski.
Physical Requirements: The ability to distribute your weight is important, as it helps with turning the snowmobile.
Accessibility
We are a remote back country operation we do not cater for wheel chairs, or people with disabilities or injuries.
Pregnancy & Babies
Babies are not allowed, but if a passenger is pregnant, it is at their own discretion whether they wish to participate. Every passenger must complete a waiver before going on the trip.
Children
Minimum age 6, 6-14 YRS- pillion passengers.
You must be 15 years or older to operate your own snowmobile. This is subject to ability and the guide’s discretion.

The common questions

Cameras are recommended, but carried at your own risk. No Drones.
Warm winter clothing, Close toe shoes are a must.


Keep your belongings with you in a back pack, keep in minimal.
Weather checks are made 1 HR before your departure time.
