As you begin the Ben Lomond Guided Walk, you’ll arrive at the Ben Lomond Saddle, where breathtaking views of Moonlight Station, Mount Crichton Station, and Mount Aspiring National Park unfold before you. Take a moment to appreciate the stunning scenery, and enjoy a delicious all-inclusive packed lunch at the Saddle.

For those who dare to reach the summit, the adventure continues. As you climb to the top of Ben Lomond, you’ll be rewarded with an unparalleled 360-degree view of Queenstown and the Whakatipu Basin, as well as Fiordland National Park and Mount Aspiring National Park. On a clear day, you may even be able to spot Westland National Park in the distance. The sense of accomplishment is palpable as you take in the majestic views from the summit.

For the Ben Lomond Summit walk, we recommend guests are comfortable walking up to 6 hours, covering 11 kilometres with an elevation gain of 958 metres (3,143 feet).

The common questions

Cameras are recommended, but carried at your own risk. No Drones.
Walking boots or sturdy walking shoes / A thermal base layer / Shorts and/or walking pants / A waterproof jacket / A fleece layer (for relaxing at the Saddle and Summit) / A hat (for sun protection, and warmth on a cold day)/ At least 2 litres of water / A small backpack for food and water, and additional clothing layers/ Any personal medication you may require in this timeframe.
Keep your belonging with you in a backpack, keep it minimal.
All trips operate dependent on weather and wind levels for the Gondola.
